UPCOMING WEEK

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I spent the weekend cleaning - A neverending task for a mom!  Well, this upcoming week I will be sharing a few Mother's Day gift ideas.  I am hoping to post at least one a day .  Hopefully I will be able to but this upcoming week is going to be jampacked with field trips and school activities.

APRIL SHOWERS bring KIDORABLE UMBRELLAS review and giveaway

The weather in the South can be hard to keep up with some weeks.  Of course one thing is for sure, when it is hot , it is really hot!  And when it rains, it really rains!  Luckily for my daughters, there is Kidorable umbrellas to help keep them dry.

MY THOUGHTS

My son loves action adventure cartoons like He-Man so I knew he would like Conan and he did.  The show is filled full of action and adventure that is sure to excite any boy.  My daughters actually enjoyed part of it but they also like shows like the Power Rangers. 

My son is excited to see what happens next after watching these episodes and also wants the other dvds of the episodes before these.  If you have a little kiddo who loves action and adventure then grab them a copy of Conan the Adventurer Season 2 Part 2 .  The dvd is available where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $ 14.99.

I love when the movie industry takes an important event in history and makes it into an animated film so kids will learn something while enjoying a cute cartoon.  This is exactly what happened with Space Dogs.  It is a cartoon movie based on the actual story of the 2 dogs that went into space.

My kids loved this movie and my daughters liked it even more when I told them that it was based on a real story.  It is beautifully animated and is a very cute story.  All 3 of my kids watched the whole movie which can be a huge feat in my household.

I definitely recommend this movie to every family.  I mean it is entertaining and educational for all ages.  The movie is available now where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $ 19.99.  So go grab the movie today and then sit down with the family for a fun movie night.

MY THOUGHTS

My son has been a huge fan of Super Heroes since he was a little boy.  So it is no surprise that he loves Super Hero Squad.  He finds the show hilarious and loves to watch it over and over.  His sisters even love the show as well.  His favorite is Wolverine and he loves the episodes with him in it the best.

I love how they have made Super Heroes available for all ages now especially younger children too.  The show is great for all ages from young to old.  The really great thing is that it will make you laugh out loud since the show can be kind of silly at times!

Now I am always looking for toys that are educational for my kiddos and Composer Cats is just that.  I love the fact that someone has come up with a wonderful product to help introduce kids to Mozart and several other composers that are to come soon. 

My daughters loved the Mozart Cat and are constantly pressing his tummy to hear the music.   He is super cute and soft also! The music has sparked several questions from my girls which makes me happy.  I love sharing knowledge with them and they loved the book too.  They have had me read the book several times and they love the story.

I think the Composer Cat plush would be perfect for a baby shower gift since classical music is researched to stimulate babies.  Also it would be great for  any child who loves music.  I also think it would be great to introduce classical music to children.  You can purchase the Composer Cat plush and book at their website store.  The book and cd is priced at $19.99 and the Mozart plush is $29.99.

SESAME STREET : BIG ELMO FUN dvd review

MY THOUGHTS

Now my 3 kids are all very different from each other in many ways, but they all have at least one thing in common.  They all watched Sesame Street while growng up and they all loved Elmo.  My youngest daughter still watches it during the day and loves Elmo and Abby Cadabby.  So when I showed her the new dvd featuring her 2 fav Sesame Street stars, she was thrilled and immediately had to watch it.

My daughter loved the show and has watched it more than once and still laughs everytime.  Now I love Sesame Street for several reasons.  First it is educational which is always a plus.  Next it is entertaining for my kids and sometimes even me ( I was a huge Elmo fan in my younger days!)  But most of all I do not have to worry about what my daughter will see while watching Sesame Street .  It is always good clean educational tv.

RACE TO THE ROOF board game review

ABOUT THE GAME

Can you make it to the attic before anyone else? Starting at the front door, roll the die and race through the different rooms. Roll a 6 and take an object card - you might leap forward or take a huge step backwards. No two games are alike on this varying game board. Finding the objects in the rooms supports recognition and association skills.      

MY THOUGHTS

As most of you know I love board games and so does the rest of my family.  I especially love games that my whole family can play together.  Now sometimes that is a challenge with the age gap between my son and his sisters.  There is almost 5 years difference between him and his oldest sister.  With that said, Race to the Roof from Ravensburger is perfect for all ages.  There is no reading involved so my youngest can play too.

Also another great feature of the game is that you can set the game up different each time so no game is the same.  There are room cards that can be placed in different orders so the board is changed with each game or you can keep it the same.

My kids loved this game since it was a level playing field.  Also depending on how many sixes you roll the game can last a little while but you will not mind cause it is fun.  I let the kids take turns setting up the game board which they loved too.

I love that the object cards make you search the rooms for various objects and can also help move yo ahead or even back.  MY kids  had a blast playing this game and we played it several times in a roll over Spring Break.

MY THOUGHTS

My whole family has at least one device that needs earphones.  So sometimes earphones can get mixed up between the kids which is how Attitudz earphones can help me out.  I can now get each of my kids their fav color earphones.  This makes it easy to tell whose is whose and also allow them to show a little personality. 

We received the purple "mysterious" earphones to review.  Lucky for me my youngest daughter loves purple and was the only kid who did not have a pair of earphones for her leapster.  She was thrilled with them and showed them off to anyone.  I have to say there are a pretty purple color - kinda metallic.

THE SITTER dvd review

ABOUT THE DVD

Adventures in Babysitting meets "Superbad" in this raunchy comedy starring Jonah Hill as Noah, a suspended college student who becomes the unlikely--and unqualified--sitter to his neighbor's children (Max Records, Landry Bender, Kevin Hernandez). But his girlfriend's (Ari Gaynor) promise of sex in exchange for cocaine forces Noah to bring the kids along on a wild trek across the city, pursued by a psychotic drug dealer (Sam Rockwell).

MY THOUGHTS

Now I was not sure if I would like this movie.  Yes, I knew it would be a raunchy comedy which is where my doubts came from.  Now this is not a family movie even though it does throw in some good messages when Jonah Hill's character helps the kids he babysits with their problems.

The movie does have a lot of bad language and graphic scenes and dialogue. Some of which I think could be left out and still get the point across.  Yet I still found myself laughing out loud at times.  I do find the movie easy to predict mostly but it still is funny. 

Now if you are not a fan of raunchy comedy, do NOT watch this movie.  If you enjoy laughing at silly comedy then you could like this movie.

DEATH OF A MODEM

I am sure some of you have noticed that I have not been on much the last few days.  Well, unfortunately my modem decided to slowly die on me.  At first, I could long on for short periods then nothing at all.  The funny part was that the modem still lit up and acted like it was trying to work.  Then I called tech support and was told that my pwer light blinking red and green indicated a defective modem. 

Well, I was relieved that it was not a line problem but upset when I heard my modem of course, was out of warranty.  SO I had to order a new one and received it tonight.  It is nice to be reconnected to the net again but I also had a little nice vacation with my family.

Also since I did not get to tell my wonderful readers on Sunday - I hope you all had a great and blessed Easter!

WE BOUGHT A ZOO out today on dvd and blu-ray review

A widower (Matt Damon) purchases a zoo in order to bring his family back together in this Twentieth Century Fox adaptation of Benjamin Mee's autobiographical memoir. BASED ON A TRUE STORY!

MY THOUGHTS

Now I am a sucker for a feel good movie and We Bought A Zoo is just that.  I cried during the movie but laughed out loud too.  It had a good balance between the sadness and happiness.  My son enjoyed the movie , but my girls drifted through parts but really enjoyed the animals.  Now I will warn you there is language in it (which I wish had been toned down).  Still even with that one complaint the movie has a great message to it. 

The movie left me wanting to load the family up to go see the actual zoo the movie is based on.  Matt Damon did a great job as Benjamin Mee.  Of course to me the star of the movie besides the animal was the little girl played by Maggie Elizabeth Jones .  She was simply adorable!  Of course to me the whole staff did a superb job of acting.

This movie is a great addition to any movie collection and would make a great gift for a loved one.  The movie is being released today .  It is available where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $16.99.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS : CHIPWRECKED dvd review

In the third entry in the popular live-action/animated series, Alvin, Simon, Theodore, their guardian Dave (Jason Lee), old foe Ian (David Cross), and Chipettes Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor wind up marooned on a tropical island. Their adventure includes an encounter with a mysterious castaway named Zoe (Jenny Slate), a dangerous volcano, a buried treasure, and a spider bite that brings about an odd change in Simon.


MY THOUGHTS

My kids love the Chipmunks and the Chipettes as well.  SO of course they loved this movie which makes me happy since I have enjoyed the Chipmunks since I was a kid myself.  My daughters love the singing scenes and wishes there were more. I think actually this one has the least singing scenes of the 3 movies.  The storyline is funny for all ages and is sure to make the whole family laugh.  I really enjoyed the part of Simon in this movie.  I am sure most people will love it too. 

It is a must have movie for family collections.  But I have to warn you, your kids may watch it numerous times like mine have.  SO be sure to grab a copy today for the family or to add to the kids' Easter baskets.  The dvd is available now where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $13.99.

TREASURE CHEST PETS - A FUN ALTERNATIVE TO EASTER BASKETS review

I saw these adorable plush storage holders called Treasure Chest Pets andfell in love with them.  I knew my daughters would adore them.  Now they come in 3 styles - Media Chest, Accessory Chest, and Treasure Chest.  We were fortunate to get to review 2 of the styles.  We received the Monkey Treasure Chest and the Pig Accessory Chest.  Now the difference is basically the style of compartment.  The Treasure Chest opens up like a chest and the Accessory Chest has a drawer that pulls out.  Now the picture does not do the drawer justice; it is a lot bigger than it looks.

Also they are super soft and have a very plush head that doubles as a pillow.  You can easily detach the head from the body because it is only being held on by a strong magnet.  Now I say strong magnet but it is still simple enough for my little girls to work.  My girls love their Treasure Chest Pets!  Although to me the greatest thing is that they can store their "valuables" in a cute and soft storage container and my girls love having a "secret" place for their things.

Now besides the Monkey Treasure Chest there is also a Treasure Chest Cow.  There is also a Dog Accessory Chest and two different Media Chests that come in a Bear and Horse design.  They are also affordably priced at $19.99.  I mean how can you beat that price!  YOu can purchase them in over 200 stores and also in their online store.  So this year how bout getting one instead of an Easter basket or grab one for the little kiddo's next birthday.  They are sure to love them like my little girls do.
