IMMORTALS dvd review and giveaway

ABOUT THE MOVIE

The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king's mission. As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion's raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man's future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.

MY THOUGHTS

Now I am a huge Mythology fan.  I have been since junior high when we had to learn all about it.  I especially love Greek Mythology.  So when I heard about IMMORTALS I was super excited.  I had hoped it would not disappoint me.

I have to say I enjoyed the movie especially the special effects in the fight scenes.  Now just to warn you this movie is graphic at parts.  But I have to tell you again the special effects are incredible.  Now the story was good too but I would have enjoyed them stretching it out a little partly because I like the movie and second because ti would have been nice for more story in between the great fight scenes.  Also some scenes can be a little dark.

The actors did an amazing job on this movie and Mickey Rourke as the villian was a great choice.  i recommend this movie to special effects fans and also to Mythology fans.  The movie is currently available now where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $ 16.99.  Now i have some good news you can also enter below for a chance to win your own copy of the dvd.  Just enter below in the Rafflecopter form.  GOOD LUCK!

4 Family Classics make their debut on blu-ray in time for Easter basket stuffing!

Experience the excitement of four unforgettable family films, FERNGULLY: THE LAST RAINFOREST, AQUAMARINE, THUMBELINA and THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER on Blu-ray for the first time yesterday from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.  Featuring talented casts and moving stories, these Blu-ray titles make great Easter gifts for the whole family to enjoy.

FERNGULLY: THE LAST RAINFOREST

Starring a talented voice cast including Robin Williams, Tim Curry, Christian Slater, Samantha Mathis, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, FERNGULLY: THE LAST RAINFOREST is an enchanting story about taking care of the environment and the power of friendship, celebrating its 20^th anniversary this year. There's magic in the rainforest and it's called FernGully! Deep in the heart of the forest awaits a paradise filled with tiny sprites, winged fairies and tree spirits who all live in joyful harmony. But when their home is threatened by humans, one courageous sprite gives her all to save it! FernGully is a fantastical adventure into a world you’ll want to visit again and again!

AQUAMARINE

Just in time for Easter, this fun feature starring Emma Roberts (Scream 4 and Valentine’s Day), Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left and Malcolm in the Middle), and Joanna “Jojo” Levesque (Hawaii Five-O) is the perfect movie for any family to enjoy. It's the end of summer and Claire (Roberts) and Hailey (JoJo) have a major problem. In just five days, Hailey's family is moving halfway around the world! These girls need a major miracle, and they get one in the form of Aquamarine, a beautiful mermaid who washes ashore in a late summer storm. Sweet but clueless to the ways of romance, she offers to grant the girls one wish if they help her find the boy of her dreams. But when they attempt to reel in the cute local lifeguard, the result is something none of them expect and they discover that sometimes what you wish for isn't what you really want after all!

THUMBELINA

From world renowned animator Don Bluth (Anastasia, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Secret of NIMH) and award-winning composer Barry Manilow comes Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina - a magical story that reminds us that if we follow our hearts, nothing is impossible. When Thumbelina, a tiny enchanted fairy, meets Prince Cornelius, she is sure she's found her heart's desire. But before their romance can blossom, she is kidnapped by a family of show business toads, detained by a scheming beetle and married to a befuddled mole! As Thumbelina casts its magical spell on your entire family, you will see why Family Life says, "Parents will be cheering, girls will be in heaven and boys will be rewarded with exciting derring-do!"

MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER

Featuring Kirk Douglas in a remarkable dual role and highlighted by a climactic chase involving 40 horsemen and 90 wild stallions thundering across snow-covered peaks, THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER is destined to become a legendary film. Set during the 1880's, when the Australian frontier was as wild and dangerous as the American West, the film follows the exploits of a handsome youth (Tom Burlinson) who sets out to tame a wild herd of horses. Taking on a challenge many men had attempted before him, he rides deep into the treacherous and untamed wilderness of his native timberlands where boys become men fast - or die trying.

Be sure to grab one or more of these classics to include in your loved ones' Easter baskets.

HUGO dvd review

In resourceful orphan Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield, an Oliver Twist-like charmer), Martin Scorsese finds the perfect vessel for his silver-screen passion: this is a movie about movies (fittingly, the 3-D effects are spectacular). After his clockmaker father (Jude Law) perishes in a museum fire, Hugo goes to live with his Uncle Claude (Ray Winstone), a drunkard who maintains the clocks at a Paris train station. When Claude disappears, Hugo carries on his work and fends for himself by stealing food from area merchants. In his free time, he attempts to repair an automaton his father rescued from the museum, while trying to evade the station inspector (Sacha Baron Cohen), a World War I veteran with no sympathy for lawbreakers. When Georges (Ben Kingsley), a toymaker, catches Hugo stealing parts for his mechanical man, he recruits him as an assistant to repay his debt. If Georges is guarded, his open-hearted ward, Isabelle (Chloë Moretz), introduces Hugo to a kindly bookseller (Christopher Lee), who directs them to a motion-picture museum, where they meet film scholar René (Boardwalk Empire's Michael Stuhlbarg). In helping unlock the secret of the automaton, they learn about the roots of cinema, starting with the Lumière brothers, and give a forgotten movie pioneer his due, thus illustrating the importance of film preservation, a cause to which the director has dedicated his life.

MY THOUGHTS

Now I was not sure if I would like HUGO or not when I first saw the previews, but then I watched the Oscars and saw how acclaimed the movie was and decided I needed to see it for myself.  My first piece of advice about the movie is DO NOT look away.  You will miss something or get lost easily.  I went to do something right quick and had to rewind back to where I left at to understand what was happening next.

I have to admit the move is beautifully done.  I have tried to look for better words to describe and I just can not.  Scorsese created a beautiful movie.  Now with that said, the movie will not be for everyone.  My daughters played while it was on and only watched a few scenes.  My son was intrigued by the movie but did say that it confused him at times for a bit.  I personally loved the message behind the movie and thought the actors were phenomenal.  I mean this movie has some great acting in my opinion.  Still I agree with my son at times it was hard to follow til you realized what was going on but I think that was part of the beauty of HUGO.

I recommend this movie to movie lovers and to those who love a thinker movie.  And those who appreciate a movie to get lost in so to speak.  The movie si currently available now where dvds are sold and online at Amazon.com for $ 16.99.  So be sure to grab yourself a copy of the movie today.
